Weave Poles

As per AKC regulations, the weave poles consist of 6 to 12 poles that are either stuck in the ground or mounted in a base. [The base design is recommended]. The poles are 1" [3/4" PVC pipe] to 1.25" [1" PVC pipe] inches in diameter and at least 36" high. They are uniformly spaced at intervals of 20 to 24" apart.

The old regulations mention that the weave poles must flex at the base to accommodate large dogs. The AKC is moving away from the flexible posts to a more rigid setup for the weave poles. [It is recommended that stripes be taped on the poles to make them more visible.
If a base is used, it may be no thicker than 1" and no wider than 4" and it must be supported so as to not interfere with a dog's performance.

Definitions used:
Cross bar or base - this is the bar or pipe that comes out 90 degrees from the line of the weave poles.
Separator - this is the pipe that separates the weave poles.

Training Weave Poles

The training weave poles can be twisted to either side so you can train your dog to properly and accurately do the weavers. This photo shows the PCV construction for one of the poles.

This picture of 6 poles shows how the practice weaves can be set at an angle for training purposes.

This picture shows how the practice weaves are used to train for that winning performance.
