As per AKC regulations, the triple jump consists of three parallel bars where the
highest bar is at the defined
jump height of the single bar jump. The top of the highest horizontal bar must be within a quarter
inch of the defined jump heights of 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24" and the new 4" height.
The three parallel bars can be anywhere from 48" to 60" long.
The two vertical posts that support the bars are 36" high. To set the heights for
the second bar, a post is mounted at a 56° angle from the horizontal.
To set the heights for
the third bar, a post is mounted at a 27° angle from the horizontal.
The geometry for a triple jump does not allow spacing for the four inch height.
The horizontal distance between the bars is ½ the jump height. The vertical
height difference between the bars is ¼ the jump height. Or according to the table:

On the posts for the bar jumps, I do not use a fixed mount point at each defined
jump height. Instead,
I have a PVC T that is modified so that it snaps onto the post. The heights are color coded
with tape and the low end of the modified T aligns with the top of the tape to give a defined
height. However, with a bar support that snaps onto the post, the user is permitted a much greater
variety of jump heights. If you do not want a 12" height but want a 10" height
instead - you got it!
By having the bar supports snap onto the post, the post can be made of one solid piece of PVC pipe which makes for a more stable jump.
My triple jump is constructed with an 'L' shaped assembly mounted to a piece of 1/2" plywood measuring 20" by 24". The horizontal section of this assembly contains 2 'T's. These 'T's hold the horizontal stabilizers.
Two other pieces of PVC pipe, 28" long, are attached to the plywood at
56° and 27° angles to hold the jump bars at the required heights. All of the PVC pieces are attached to the plywood with screws.
All of the jump bars in the picture below are striped. The 2 horizontal stabilizer bars are plain white.
The side supports of the triple jump can be customized with the ever ubiquitous paw prints. Add $5.00 to the cost of the tripple jump for the paw prints.
