As per AKC regulations, the single bar jump consists of two 36" high posts
[minimum of 32"] that support
a 48 " or 60" bar. The top of the horizontal bar must be within a quarter
inch of the defined jump heights of 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24" and the new 4" height.
I do not use a fixed support at each defined jump height on the posts for the single bar jumps. Instead,
I modify a PVC T so that it snaps onto the post.
By having the bar supports [or jump cups as some refer to them] snap onto the post, the post consist of one solid piece of PVC pipe which makes for a more stable jump, and there are no nuts and bolts to adjust or lose.
I use these bar supports for all of the jumps - single bar, double oxer, triple, and panel.
This picture shows a ¾ snap support on a post. The bar supports come in ¾ and 1 inch sizes and are sold in sets of 2.
The jump heights are
color coded with tape and the high end of the snap T aligns with the bottom of the
tape to give a defined height. However, with a bar support that snaps onto the post,
the user is allowed a much greater variety of jump heights. If you do not want a
20" height but want a 22" height instead - you got it!
