Panel Jump

As per AKC regulations, the panel jump is composed of cross boards that give the illusion of a solid wall. The panels are 48" to 60" long and can be 3" to 4 " wide. Also, the AKC states that the panels should be no thicker than than 1". They do not state how thin the panels may be. Therefore, the panels that I use are plastic siding, about a 32nd of an inch thick, durable, and light weight.

The posts and legs of the panel jump are made from 1" PVC pipe and the bar cups are attached to the post with screws. The bars that support the panels are ¾" PVC. The pipe is cut down its length and the panel section is inserted into the slot. The panel is secured to the pipe with three ¾" screws. The panels themselves are 48" long. The picture on the left shows the complete assembly of a panel, which is about 5" high. The picture on the right shows an end view of the pipe and panel construction.

There are 6 panels, including a modified one for the 4" jump height.

This picture shows the finished product with all jump panels. The panel above will overlap onto the one below it.
