48 Inch Dog Walk

The 48 inch high dog walk conforms to AKC standards when all of the sections are 12 feet long. Unlike the 8 foot dog walk, the planks will NOT be 2 by 12s. An 8 foot 2 by 12 weighs anywhere from 25 to 30 pounds each. If you can assume that the weight of a 12 foot 2 by 12 is proportional to an 8 foot one, then the 12 footer will weigh anywhere between 37 and 45 pounds. If you wish to use the 2 by 12s, then that will be a custom order, and I will adjust the cost [downward] accordingly.

I will use the same type of construction on the planks as I would for the teeter tauter - ½ inch plywood with 1 ¼ aluminum angle for stability. My 12 foot plank weighs about 22 pounds. Because of the length of the up ramps, special supports will be included in the package.

The supports for the dog walk are constructed of saw horses.

The up and down ramps attach to the horizontal plank with ordinary door hinges. The hinge pins are replaced with a quarter inch steel rod which easily slides in and out of the hinges. The hinges are aligned so that there is no A side or B side. You can attach either ramp to any side of the horizontal plank.
